If you have a high hit rate for #2 because you've figured out how to do it already, you'll not notice much difference.Ĥ. If you want to shoot at crazy large apertures at 50mm and longer with zero DOF very tight and have not every been good at it the R5 (anything with DPAF) will make it Childs play.ģ. If you do video (as in REALLY do it, not think about maybe doing it) the R5/R6/R/Rp/5DIV) is a no brainer compared to this camera.Ģ. I have both (because I am STUPID and have WAY too much gear)ġ. Yeah.no! Somebody on FM will get a decent deal and I'll come out well ahead of their offers. I'm sure the other sites are with a couple hundred $$ of that range. I did a quick quote from MPB and laughed. I'll likely sell the R5 on the FM forums. Love the R5, but I'll be happy with a 5Ds to go along with my 5D4. Slightly impulsive, but I've been bouncing this thought around for a while now. Won't have to worry about B&H stock, I just pulled the trigger on a refurb 5DS (not the R) from the Canon refurb store for $1039. Not sure how long the 5DS R will remain in stock at B&H Photo? also get a quote from KEH Camera and MPB Camera. Having that figure might help in your decision making. I think they give a little more on trade ins. I'm finding that as great as the R5's AF is, it's not infallible and has its own limitations, at least with my current lens collection of mostly older EF glass.ī&H Photos website has an instant online quote on what they will pay for cameras. Not up to the R5 eye detection, but not all that bad.Įye detection is a wonderful thing, but I believe I'd survive OK going back to only DSLR autofocus. THE CANON 5DS R - AUTOFOCUS ‘TORTURE’ TEST

Especially on a large print that's on a wall.Īlso not that bad for birding or moving subjects. Your R5 for sports and wildlife eye detection.ĥDS-R vs D810 vs 5D Mk III: Landscape Photography (with tips!) - YouTubeĪ 20 x 30 print you have 289.6ppi That's so close to the magic 300ppi I don't think anyone would notice the difference. This was great when I was using the 5D4/7D2 combo. Something to be said for identical control layouts. I do like the almost identical bodies of using a 5D4/5DSR together. Also the glass for the 5DS R will work on the R5. If you can scrape up enough funds, I think both cameras would complement each other. The R5 is awesome but my photos didn't suck any more or less before before that camera. The price difference will buy some nice glass. The cost difference of the R5/5DSR would buy most of the micro 4/3 system I keep thinking I want to add.Įvery time I see it come back in stock I wonder if I should just get the 5DSR and sell my new R5. Plenty of other things photo-related I'd like. Just not sure I want that much invested in one body. And believe me, I really like the camera. I know the R5 is pretty much a current "wonder-cam" that does everything amazingly well. The R5 would be an improvement but some days I wonder "how much more do I need?". I did just fine with my 5D4 and previous 7D2 for these. My kids are at the age where they are about done with youth sports, which was my main use. You could always sell the R5 and pick up a 5dsr and a really nice L lens for it. People always said you couldn't shoot wildlife with it but I did. I shot the 5dsr for three years, its's not the best in low light or fps but it's a great camera. If you don't shoot fast action where the auto focus and fps of the R5 blows the 5dsr away maybe you would be better off with the 5dsr.
